Ken Rathbun was born and raised in rural Crook County, Wyoming, and lives on the ranch that was homesteaded in 1883 by his great grandparents. After graduating from Sundance High School in 1975, Ken was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated from USMA in 1979 with a BS in Applied Science and Engineering, and spent the next five years as a Regular Army officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. In 1983, Ken and his wife Denise were married and have two children, a daughter, Elaina and a son, Chesney. Ken is a Wyoming Professional Engineer and a principal owner of the consulting firm, Bearlodge Engineering and Surveying, located in Sundance. He has served on the Crook County School District #1 Board of Trustees since 2002, and has previously served on the Crook County Community Juvenile Services Board. Ken is a private pilot, and enjoys hunting, rock climbing and other outdoor adventure sports activities. He and Denise have enjoyed following their children’s activities and successes over the years, and are hoping to do the same with grandchildren some day.
